BLAKE : VOICE, ELECTRIC GUITAR
BAD MAN : ELECTRIC GUITAR, B.VOICE
MURPHY : ELECTRIC BASS GUITAR
HEWSON : ELECTRIC GUITAR
SAUNDAZ : DRUMS AND CYMBALS

We used to practice in the basement of The Venue in Braintree. Our friends Ed and Stu were running it as a rehearsal and recording studio. It was super awesome times in there. I think a personal highlight was when we were practicing in there there was a bang on the door and a rather scary lady was standing there, very drunk and talking a lot of bollocks. She was scary, but was she called Mary? who knows. To us she was and always will be. We tried to explain that she was in a rehearsal studio and has possibly one to the wrong place. She eventually left but not before squatting for a nice big poo poo outside. At least thats how i choose to remember it.
This album always reminds me of the smell of sewers because on the days we were recording we discovered a man hole cover under the carpet that would kick up really quite savagely.
I think this is my favourite Arcade record. The last one we did was better in alot of ways but this one is really special to me. All of our eps sound different but this one is the weirdest. We had been listening to quite alot of Capdown and Cable. I think the songs sound like a mesh of those bands, just not quite as good I guess!! It was a very difficult time in my life and its quite nice listening to it now and knowing that there where some good things going on..
This was our first record with John Hewson and he kind of learned the songs on the fly. I over drum on the whole thing and i recorded all the drums without anyone playing along with me, which would explain the sloppiness and slight all over the placeness about it! Despite its faults its a sweet record if i do say so myself. Blakes songs are (in my humble opinion) amazing on this. I feel we were properly a band at this point. I don't think this stuff really sounds like anyone else and I am definitely proud of that. Around this time someone after a gig described us as being like a little gang of misfits and I feel this record has that vibe. We were in on something and didn't really care if anyone else liked it or not, it was ours and that was mostly enough!!
Eds production as cool (despite forgetting to record my ride cymbal for half of the session) but i tried a remaster anyway. Just as an excuse to share it again.

about

Arcade Braintree, UK

Arcade were a punk rock/ grunge/ stinking greebo band from Braintree in Essex! they started as a four piece in 2002, and ended as a six piece in 2010! no one knows why they split up, its probably the biggest mystery in the history of mankind!
